Christen
Owner

I was born and raised in Bergen County and have had a love for animals since I was a young girl. I got my first dog, a Sheltie named Cody, when I was 13 years old. Cody was a great companion and was very smart. Losing him was devastating, but ultimately led me to the career path that I’m on today.

I attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where I studied Communications with a minor in Spanish. After graduation, I got a job in New York City doing Advertising Sales, but wasn’t fulfilled at my job. During this time of trying to decide what to do career wise, Cody passed away. I was devastated and started pet sitting part time to fill a void of not having my furry buddy with me. I loved being able to spend time with dogs and cats again! I started to think about what I could do as a career to incorporate animals into my life.

I decided to quit my job in Manhattan, move back to New Jersey and go to school to become a Veterinary Technician. While I attended school full time, I worked part time at a 24/7 emergency animal hospital in Rockland County, New York. After 2 years, I received my Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology from Bergen Community College! I then took my national exam and became licensed to work. I started my career at the Bergen County Veterinary Center in 2016 and am so happy to be working in a familiar environment again. I truly enjoy what I do and feel that I make a difference most every day.

As my pet sitting services continued to grow, I officially launched Vet Tech Pet Sit, LLC in 2017. In 2021, I went all in and made my dream a reality by offering pet sitting and dog walking full time! By 2023, I was excited to welcome my first employee to the team.
